EWeLiNe stands for "Erstellung innovativer Wetter- und Leistungsprognosemodelle für die Netzintegration wetterabhängiger Energieträger" (creating innovative weather and power prediction models for grid integration of weather-dependent energy sources, and is a joint project of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and System Technology IWES) in Kassel and the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach . This project, founded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, will run untilDecember 2016.It has a budget of about seven million euros. As associated partners, the transmission system operator Amprion GmbH, TenneT TSO GmbH< and 50 Hertz Transmission GmbH are involved in the project. EWeLiNe employs 23 scientists, 10 at the IWES and< 13 at the DWD.
