Direct Marketing


For all new WTGs, operators can market offshore electricity directly as an alternative to EEG remuneration. Direct marketing has been common practice for all offshore wind turbines installed in Germany since the end of 2012 (see figure below). The revenue of the operator or direct marketer is made up of the sales price achieved and the market premium. The amount of the market premium is calculated monthly retroactively as the difference between the value to be invested (basic or initial tariff) and an average market value on the EEX.
