Installation manufacturers worldwide

Of the OWPs newly commissioned worldwide in 2017, 47 percent can be attributed to the manufacturer Siemens. When interpreting this data, it should be noted that these key figures, which are based on calendar years, are subject to fluctuations influenced by various external factors. These influences are, for example: Backlogs due to unfavourable weather windows for commissioning, delays in grid expansion, etc.

Siemens dominates the global market among manufacturers of offshore turbines. Of just under 18,200 MW of installed offshore capacity, around 61 percent are Siemens systems (Figure 6.15), slightly less in percentage terms than in 2016. The Danish manufacturer Vestas has the second largest share of the total market: 859 Vestas turbines with a rated capacity of over 2700 MW are installed offshore. This corresponds to 15 percent of the total offshore capacity. Other system manufacturers are Senvion with a market share of 7 percent and Adwen with 5 percent. The rest of the market is distributed among numerous other turbine manufacturers. These include many prototypes, functional models and experimental turbines that are not yet important on the plant market.
