In 2018, the expansion of offshore wind energy in regard to the "Wind Energy on Sea" was successfully continued. In accordance with the Wind Energy at Sea Act (WindSeeG), the following evaluations follow the definition in the definitions according to § 3 No. 7: "offshore wind turbine" refers in the following to "any offshore wind turbine for the generation of electricity from wind energy constructed at a distance of at least three nautical miles from the coastline of the Federal Republic of Germany seawards..." [WindSeeG]. Three nautical miles correspond to a distance of 5.6 km. Turbines less than three nautical miles from the coastline are listed as nearshore turbines in this compilation. This definition is uniformly adopted in this section, notwithstanding possible definitions to the contrary in other countries.
