Market Share of Wind Turbine Manufacturers Worldwide

The German plant stock comes from a large number of different manufacturers. 23 of these manufacturers have a stock of at least 10 wind turbines. However, around 90 percent of the plant stock comes from five manufacturers. The manufacturers Enercon and Vestas occupy a special position (18,460 turbines, 65 percent).

The market shares for plant expansion in 2018 are also mainly concentrated on these five plant manufacturers. With 397 turbines, 53 percent of Enercon's installed wind turbines were delivered in 2018, followed by Vestas with 178 turbines (24 percent). The first and second places are therefore still firmly in the hands of Enercon and Vestas. Nordex and Senvion maintained their positions in positions 3 and 4, but each lost significant market share. A merger enabled Siemens Gamesa to move up to fifth place with a market share of 5 percent. Still strongly represented in the German market with a market share of 8 percent in 2017, GE Energy almost disappeared from the scene in 2018. However, due to the serious slump in installation figures, all manufacturers lost a significant share of new installations in 2018.
